They tell you in training you should have a small umbrella in your kit bag. Well, I took mine out after about a year of flying with it and never using it. Any weight becomes heavier if you've been flying all day. So, it's at home, somewhere. Instead, I found something that I have actually used and if it breaks because of a wild wind gust, I am not out a bunch of money. Look at the price. 

This will not work in a monsoon, but I tell you, when you want to go out to get that pizza or perfect meal across the street from your layover and it is raining cats and dogs, this umbrella is perfect. Dries quickly, too. It's 90 cm opened. And weighs an incredible 210g. (Nothing.)

Works well for the sun, too.
